CARDIO KICKBOXING

A great workout for everyone interested in improving their fitness & stamina. This class is flexible to serve the needs of all students - it will get beginners into shape, it will challenge advanced athletes, & both men & women are welcome! Class format integrates combinations of punches, kicks, & heavy-bag work. Additional muscle and motion exercises are incorporated to strengthen and tone. You will have fun, reduce stress, & get an awesome workout. (class capacity: MPR=30)

NOTE: This class encourages the use of sparring gloves (limited number provided in class) or boxing hand-wraps (available for purchase for $6.00 at the OPERS Wellness Center). CIRCUIT XPRESS

This 40-minute workout uses a variety of formats (and beats!) to keep you motivated while improving your overall fitness during your lunch-break. By training with free-weights, resistance-bands, and body-weight this quick workout will give you an exciting range of strengthening, stretching, balance, and core exercises. CORE-YOGA FUSION

This class takes you through an active, powerful style of yoga that combines the breath with the flow of sun-salutations into various standing and balancing poses. The practice also includes a challenging series of abdominal toners to strengthen core muscles while also providing lengthening stretches for a balanced strong and agile body. (class capacity: ACT=20, MAS=30, MPR=30)

FIT BARRE

This workout combines elements of the standard Barre-Method workout with additional emphases on the core (whole-body exercises targeting the muscles which play the greatest role in body change). FLOW YOGA

Flow yoga is another name for vinyasa yoga. It is a yoga practice that unifies breath with movement through a flowing sequence of postures. This is an all-levels class that offers something for everyone - poses that build strength, endurance, increase flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Modifications of poses will be offered so that you can make the class easier or more challenging to meet your needs. (class capacity: MAS=30)

IYENGAR YOGA

Iyengar yoga is a form of Hatha yoga (a yoga system of physical exercises and breathing control) named after B.K.S Iyengar. Mr. Iyengar was was considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. He died in Pune, India, in 2014 at the ripe old age of 96. Iyengar style yoga places an emphasis on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of postures ("asanas") and breath-control ("pranayama"). Students develop strength, mobility, stability, and piece-of-mind through practicing the asanas. Another characteristic of Iyengar yoga is the use of props such as blocks, belts, blankets, bolsters, sandbags, etc. to support students in their practice.(class capacity: MAS=30, NAM=30, SHC=15)

This workout uses a series of exercise routines designed to increase your core strength & improve your posture, energy, & flexibility. Pilates work is powered by breath, flow, & centering. SUNRISE YOGA

Sunrise Yoga involves a series of Vinyasa yoga sequences which are tailored for beginners as well as experienced Yoga practitioners. Vinyasa yoga emphasizes breath to movement, meaning that with each change of breath you flow through the next posture. Every class begins with the basic Sun Salutations followed by strengthening postures, balancing poses, and stretching, and then a variety of additional core exercises are included throughout each class. The instructor demonstrates each pose as she cues them so that students are fully aware of how to do each posture. (class capacity: ACT=20, MAS=30, MPR=30)

TOTAL BODY HIIT

Get in shape “boot camp” style! Designed by Japanese scientist Izumi Tabata, experience short bursts of high-intensity, interval-training that target the major muscle groups of the upper & lower body, specifically designed to “make it rain” sweat! From circuit-style routines that jump-start cardio fitness, to creative muscle-toning exercises using dumbbells, medicine balls, or even the participant’s body weight, each class brings its own unique challenges. No two classes are the same! Students will work the quarter to improve cardiovascular stamina, core strength, & flexibility. (class capacity: ACT=15, MPR=20)
